WW2 German repro stuff for sale... [05 Feb 2008|06:11pm]

panzerpenguin
[ mood | awake ]

I'm selling off all my WW2 German repros in order to fund my dream WW1 German uniform.

Haven't decided prices for these yet...London-based folks who are interested are welcome to come round and inspect the goods.

* Decent film-surplus M1940 (I think) feldgrau uniform tunic (with insignia from Soldier of Fortune added) for a private soldier of the LSSAH Pz. Gren. division (has SS runes on one side of collar and blank patch on the other, LSSAH cuff title, sleeve eagle, removable LSSAH cypher slides on white-piped black shoulder straps). NB: shoulder straps are reversable to white-piped feldgrau. Only problem is no belthooks, but these could be added.
* Late war enlisted man's Army collar litzen and breast eagle insignia, removed from above when I rebadged it.
* Waffen-SS 'oakleaf' pattern reversable (summer/autumn) camo smock - 2nd pattern with foliage loops and pockets (Soldier of Fortune).
* Quality feldgrau trousers (Soldier of Fortune) in correct pattern with all pockets etc., too big for me and need some buttons replacing which I will do before I sell them.
* Kriegsmarine canteen with cup and cover (genuine?)
* Pair of green canvas MP44 sturmgewehr ammo pouches with leather fittings (genuine?)
* Y-straps with one broken belt hook end.
* Early post-war Bundeswehr / Bundesgrenzschutz helmet with incorrect liner and leather chin strap.
* 1 each Army and Waffen-SS enlisted man's belt buckles.

Also:
* E-tool and brown leather carrier of completely unknown (to me) origin, appears to be designed for wearing by itself (without a bayonet). Tool is a non-folding square-headed type with ball-ended handle. Looks 50+ yrs old easily.

Edit: Also a decent mess tin (SoF again) with black leather strap.

Drop me a comment if interested.

Uniform question. [16 Oct 2006|02:04pm]

ekesobriquet
I hope this isn't out of order for this community but it seemed to be the most obvious choice and the one that would have more knowledgeable people.

I am doing research on Russian Imperial Army uniforms. I'm trying to find ones that would be red overall with golden epilets, the rest I'm not sure about. Who would have worn such uniforms and when?

If you guys know of a better place (on or off LJ) to direct this question, please tell me.

Third Reich Luftwaffe Dagger.... candlesticks?? [07 Jul 2006|11:35pm]

madamemalice
I found these items at a yard sale and am looking for more information about them.

These are two candlesticks made out of pieces of aluminum painted black as well as the hilts of what resemble two Nazi first model Luftwaffe daggers. The swastikas on the pommel and cross guard are gold-colored and the pommel and hand guard appear to be made of aluminum. The grips differ from issued Luftwaffe daggers in that they are made of ivory colored plastic or resin and wrapped with silver bullion type wire. Overall the details are very crisp and clean.

Altogether the candlesticks are 8.5" high and are about 4.25" wide at the cross guard. The pommel is about 1.25" in diameter and somewhere around 0.5" thick.

The man holding the sale said that these candlesticks were bought by his father in the 1940s or 1950s in Germany. His father had been told that the designs on the dagger hilts were not Nazi swastikas but good luck sign swastikas and under that impression, the father presented them to his own wife as a present and they've been in the family ever since.

My best guess is that they were made after the war out of leftover inventories of unused dagger parts. I have not been able to locate anything else like them online so far so I turn to you.

I have included links to two photographs of the candlesticks so hopefully someone can help me out as to what these really are and how much they might be worth.

can you help me identify nationality of coats? [11 Jun 2006|06:57pm]

ngakmafaery
[ mood | awake ]

...I found a few old coats today in bags in my house, and they are WWII era, some sort of European, and I don't have photos. One says A.C.B. 1941, and some have three crowns on the inside back of the coats, and some have one. Some have lapel insignia or epaulet insignia, all very modest and nothing glaring like SS or Russian sickle and star, or on the buttons either. All of them are a medium green wool...I have not found these on military sites, and would love to know if there are good sites that show actual museum specimens...thanks!

Lanyard? [04 Jun 2006|06:34pm]

tisfolly
I don't mean to be cheeky as I have only just joined this community, but I am very much hoping that somebody can help me. My sincere apologies before hand if this is not appropriate.

I have been looking for a WWII British Navy lanyard and have so far come up with absolutely nothing. The militaria shop I know of doesn't stock them and I've had no luck on line. I would be willing to give making one a go if push came to shove but I have no idea of how to even start. During a swing by to Portsmouth dockyard today I found out from a rather official looking gentleman that the knot used is the crown knot but that's about all I know .. other than the cord is white. I have been to the naval section of the library but all the photos I have seen, have the lanyard pretty much obscured from view, I can just about make out the knot and the loop below.

So this leads me onto my actual point .. would anyone know either where I could purchase one or be able to point me toward directions to make one or even just a clear photograph of one. Thank you in advance.

Luftwaffe HBT Trousers [08 Aug 2005|04:19pm]

njtankfarm
//UPDATED w/info & pics

I just bought a pair of Luftwaffe HBT trousers (blue)... the people who I bought it from had no idea what they were (which I think is the reason the price was so cheap) other than that they were German and I'm unsure if they're repro or originals and am trying to locate some kind of mark but can't... the pants look exactly like they should if they were WWII and the pockets look like they have been replaced, as well as with some of the buttons

- slash pockets
- single rt. pocket on the back
- button/loop for fitting

I paid a ridiculously cheap amount for this and don't care whether or not they are genuine or not, but if they were where would I find the mark and about what year would they have been in service... someone who's seen them suggested that the lack of a mark might indicate that they were tailor made for an individual, but I'm not sure

Pearl Harbor Reenactment -- Urgent Call for Reenactors [03 May 2005|04:43pm]

mlif
Attention Fellow Reenactors:

I'm sorry for the short notice, but a very unique and exciting opportunity has come up.

The Southern Minnesota Wing of the Commemorative Air Force is having it's annual air show May 27, 28 and 29 at the Red Wing Municipal Airport in Bay City, WI.

As part of the event they have booked the CAF's Tora, Tora, Tora Squadron to perform a Pearl Harbor reenactment with pyro.  I have suggested to the local wing to include reenactors on the ground to interact with what the Tora, Tora, Tora planes are doing.  They loved the idea.  I explained that this is a very busy time for reenactors and that 4 weeks is difficult to arrange such an event.  They have set a May 14th deadline to determine whether the necessary reenactor involvment is there or not.

With that said, I am putting out this call to all Reenactors who are interested in participating in this event.

The scenario:  Pearl Harbor attack on Army Air Field, 07 DEC 1941

Reenactors required:

At least 20 men and women in the following impressions:

Early War US Impressions:

Army Sentries on patrol
Air Corps Ground Crew
Air Corps pilots
Army/Navy Nurses & medics
Naval Personnel

If you are interested, please send and email with the requested information below.

In addition to the Pearl Harbor reenactment, they are other additional reenacting events during the show including:

Friday the 27th is an Education day, they are looking for any reenactor impression to do static displays for bus loads of school kids for this day.
ETO public battle (open to Alllied and German impressions)
Living History display for all WWII impressions and vehicles
One site camping for the entire event
Meals will be provided
Transportation for period vehicles can be arranged.

Please forward this notice to anyone you think may be interested in participating in any of the above activities.  For more info about the air show visit:  www.wingsoffreedom.org

I have been on vacation, and while on my travels, I met a fellow who has quite a collection of Imperial German, and assorted allied WW1 uniforms. He even has a few uniform items supposedly owned by Kaiser Wilhelm. Some shoulderboards, and ribbon bars. It all looks absolutely beautiful, and I believe he has completely authentic items.

Does anyone have any good pics of WW1 uniforms? The Navy uniforms, and Aviator tunics are absolutely beautiful!

WWII plane wrecks to Germany
Carin Pettersson 31.08.04 11:46

Two WWII bomb planes will be collected from the lake Jonsvatnet in Trondheim, Norway, and returned to Germany, an operation paid by the Germans.

The recovery mission will cost millions, and without German funding the planes would most likely have remained at 74 meters depth at Trondheim’s drinking water source, but the Germans have agreed to collect the bill. In addition, the Armed Forces Museum in Bodø will receive an airworthy Starfighter from the 60s from the Germans.

«We are going to take what we need from the two plane wrecks,» explained Rolf Scheen, director of the museum, to Avisenes Nyhetsbyrå (ANB). «The Germans will get two airframes they don’t already have.»

«We have been criticized for wanting to give away these planes to Germany, but we have these plane types already,» Sheen stated, and who assured that Norwegian war history and Norwegian interest were protected in the best possible way in this trade.

The lake Jonsvatnet contains the rests of two of Nazi Germany’s most effective weapons, a Junkers 88 and a Heinkel 111. In the end of April 1940, Luftwaffe used the ice-covered lake as an emergency landing ground. However, this time the landing gear of the planes went through the ice, and the planes sank.
